And the winner is, tah tah tah tah dah a QUEEN of business #BOM for #November. Two Queens actually. We chose Get Real Recipes because the founders are an inspiration to stay at home moms everywhere. Following years of perfecting recipes and cooking for their families, the Tipperary ladies Susie Halley and Clare Corballis founded Get Real Recipes.
The concept was formed when they got tired of frequent phone calls from their college going children – who would call from the supermarket asking “what ingredients they needed to buy to make ‘spag bol’ Mom”, or another of their favourite recipes. Susie and Clare put their thinking caps on and soon realised that there were plenty of handy recipes out there that used mainly everyday store cupboard items. They didn’t want to just create another cook book as it would be too cumbersome to carry about and would require the old fashioned method of writing the ingredients down.
And so the idea was born to print a simple set of recipe cards that would be handy to refer to when shopping. Each card has a convenient list of ingredients with simple instructions on how to cook the tasty fun suppers and avoid pre-packed dinners on the other. The business has grasped the imagination of their fans with the recipe cards being featured in many publications including the Irish Times, Food and Wine magazine, and Easy Food magazine.
Here at the office we have tried and tested the recipes and we LOVE them. The packaging is a very clever non destructible plastic box so you can carry it in your bag without having to worry about them falling apart. They are perfect for busy Moms and starving college students everywhere and they also make a perfect Christmas stocking filler.
Susie and Clare tell us that plans for the Get Real Recipes business include the development of an App which will allow the cards to download to mobile phones, make the whole process every more efficient and avoid having to use a pen and paper at all.
