So what’s hot and what’s not on the Social Media Marketing landscape for Ireland in February 2014? Whilst the rest of us were focusing on Valentines Day and such like these businesses were completely focused on building their brand. The findings were compiled by the guys from Social Bakers and the results may surprise and inspire you.
First up the average number of Facebook fans for the Top Twenty Brands stand at a staggering 200999 whilst the average number of posts from these brands is 51. This answers the question put to us by many of our clients i.e “how many times should I post a day?”. Whilst some digital marketing consultants are advising 2 – 3 times daily, this report indicates that these brands are posting over 7 times a day.
The average number of Twitter fans is 30511 with tweets from these brands measuring 115. The report indicates that Twitter is still more powerful than YouTube with 296 fans on YouTube compared to the figure of 30511 on Twitter. The brands themselves seem to recognise that, chanelling their time into a mere 6 posts over the month on average. So much for video being the way forward. The top 5 Twitter brands are Netflix, Lynx, Aer Lingus, Met Eireann and Vodafone Ireland. Met Eireann did a stupendous job during the horrific storms we endured throughout February.
The top 5 Facebook brands are Penneys, Lidl Ireland, Amazon UK, Lyons Tea and boohoo.com. A strong message for brand managers here seems to be that consumers are looking for cheaper items an obvious side effect from the recent economic trading conditions.
The top 5 brands who gained the most engagement rates were Cara Pharmacy, Keoghs Farm, Vodafone Ireland, Sam McAuley Chemists and Dublin SPCA dog training. The post about winning a brand new HTC 1 Gold gained the most attention and it was by Vodafone. It romped home with engagement rates of 32000 total interactions.
We’d love to hear what you found effective for your business. Is there a social media trend developing, have you had any problems gaining traction or have you been inspired by the above?
