Working in a virtual office has been made so easy with the advent of Google Apps for Business and all the other amazing business tools our there. Sometimes though it can be a bit irritating. We frequently work on several collaborative projects at once, with lots of shared files stored on Google Drive. However, trying to locate the files on Google Drive whilst in Gmail was no mean feat.
Finding the whole searching for Google Drive docs thing a bit frustrating, I decided to check if there was a way to to search my Google Drive files without having to exit Gmail all the time. And guess what? There is a way!
First, Click on the settings icon (the little cog) up on the right hand side of your screen when you are in Gmail.
Click on “Settings”.
Next, locate the “Labs” menu. This is located over on the right hand side of your menu bar in Gmail.
Locate the “Apps Search” within the Labs section.
Click on the “Enable” radio button.
Click on “Save” at the top left of your screen, just above the menu.
Now you can search directly in the Google search box for your Google drive docs.
This has made our lives so much easier I cannot tell you. With time being so precious, every minute saved from having to search for files is a big boost in productivity.
