Facebook_The_Small_Business_FairyWe are incredibly busy here at H.Q. these past few weeks finalising the first EBook in a series of 5, putting the final touches to our Innovator App and even taking the reins of The Womens Room UK on Friday last.   Thanks for all your good wishes, and particularly a huge thank you to Pauline and the ladies at @DigiwomenIRL, who’ve been amazingly supportive.  It’s getting really exciting now.  The EBook is being formatted for EPub and the Innovator App is having it’s final few tweaks.  Innovator will be free to download so stay posted for it’s launch date.

We also reached this weeks Facebook target and now have over 2500 Fans.  One of our The_Small_Business_Fairy_Facebook_Communitydiscussions this week on Facebook was based around a question we posed “What is the biggest challenge you currently have in your business”.  Amongst the answers were a good deal of queries around converting your Facebook likes to sales.  This discussion also came up when we took control of The Womens Room UK Twitter stream so we decided it was a perfect subject for our blog post.

TIP 1 – Target your audience

The most important element of marketing (for that is what you are doing on Facebook) is to ensure that you have done your market research and are targeting the correct audience.  Is your target market on Facebook?  If they are not, this could explain the lack of connection.

TIP 2 – Find the connection

The_Womens_RoomSometimes  people get lost in the numbers on Facebook and forget that the point of the numbers is to generate sales.  In order to generate sales you must connect on an emotional level with your customer. Selling now is all about the emotional connection.  The customer wants to hear that you care, not the hard sell.

TIP 3 –  Encourage Interaction

You need to ask questions of your audience to find out what you can do to help them.  If you are helpful, they will trust you and trust leads to sales. Try giving helpful tips or posting interesting images.

TIP 4 – Make sure you are on Twitter

Twitter_The_Small_Busines_FairyYou can use Twitter to beat Edgerank (for more information, see the Edgerank informative post Rhythm is a Dancer in Socia Media).  Edgerank is only allowing 16% of your fans to see your posts so you need to find ways around that.  Connecting Twitter to Facebook and tweeting helps to overcome this issue. It also drives your fan base from Twitter to Facebook.

TIP 5 – Leave the island

Darlings there is no point having the most fantastic page if you never leave it.  You have to get out Digiwomen_The_Small_Business_Fairyonto other pages and introduce yourself.  The quickest way to get interaction and people talking about you is to find groups relative to your industry. We like DigiwomenIRL and The Womens Room UK.

Try find something similar for your industry and start communicating.
