This week we celebrate the inspiration that is Paul McKenna Phd. The hypnotist, Paul McKenna, has written and produced several self help books and multimedia products and you probably own one. Titles such as “I can make you Rich”, “I can make you Thin”, “I can make you confident” etc have made him a very rich man. You may have seen his self improvement television shows based on the same concepts. Indeed so successful is he that his books carry introductions from the likes of Sir Richard Branson.
We celebrate him not just for his business acumen in converting a service based business into a product led business, but because he recently bravely spoke of his battle against depression. 20 years ago Paul McKenna was a radio DJ. His interest in hypnotism was ignited after meeting a local hypnotist. His first show convinced men that a mop was Miss World and made ladies believe that they were ballet stars! His talent was such that he’s now a multi-million pound business with a client list that includes Gerri Halliwell and David Beckham. His business acumen has earned him an estimated fortune of 35 million pounds.
He has successfully turned a service based business into a product based business with his range of books and multimedia products. Ever since Nigel Benn put Gerald McLennan into a coma in the course of a boxing match, after which Benn grabbed the mic and said, ‘I want to thank Paul McKenna, who hypnotised me and made me believe in myself,’ McKennas popularity has been on the rise. Those of us mere mortals are paying upwards of 700 pounds to attend one of his seminars of several hundred people (the mind boggles).
In 1993 his show The Hypnotic World of Paul McKenna launched. At it’s popularity peek, he was attracting 12 million viewers a week. He was becoming a huge name in hypnotism. This led to his interest in NLP and he then launched Paul McKenna Training. His success was so profound that it’s reported David Walliams and Matt Lucas based the hypnotist from their “Little Britain” series was based on McKenna’s routine. “Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, not around the eyes, into my eyes……”
His latest venture, launched in May 2013, is a new therapy to help heal the minds of people who’ve experienced severe trauma, his most ambitious yet. You can read more about Paul McKenna here.
