Silicon Valley CompetitionDCU Ryan Academy are taking part in a Silicon Valley competition for EU Startups. They are looking for 1 more tech focused Irish startup to join their partners Mind the Bridge for a whole week in Silicon Valley (can you imagine the selfies?). The winner will be given the opportunity to pitch, network and attend the MTB Startup School. And that’s not all, they will also get to take part in European Innovation Day, an event designed to expose European Startups to American Investors. Yeah baby!!

The Silicon Valley EU startup competition is part of the Welcome project.  The project offers to selected EU startups, a jumpstart to the Silicon Valley. This provides them with an opportunity to commercialise the product abroad, enter new markets, gain visibility and reputation in United States. There is also the possiblity to enter into partnerships with strategic corporates/partners and raise funds from venture capitals.

Up to two late stage (>€50K of funding from external investors) startups from Berlin, Dublin, Milan and Madrid&Salamanca will be selected. So what are they looking for? They want visionary web entrepreneurs who are looking to grow internationally, and, are willing to invest to take their startup to the next level. (Yes, this is huge!).

To be eligible the entrepreneur will need to be based (or in the proess of being based) in one of the European ecosytems connected by the Welcome project. They must also have already completed an initial seed round of at least €50k in captial, raised from external investors.

SELECTION CRITERIA

In addition to the financial selection criteria listed above, the Selection Committee will evaluate the startups based upon:

innovation of the product/service

innovation of the business model

potential of the market

quality of the team (in terms of diversity, experience and education).

Note they are looking for startups operating in the ICT and Web-Digital sector.
